In India, dad’s are either monitoring how much time their daughters spend on the phone (with a boy), or forcing them into marriages with boys they don’t want to marry. Issues like pre-marital sex and teenage pregnancies have not yet risen to the forefront in our society, and we are aeons away from the day that an Indian dad (Even my very liberal dad) would wear this shirt proudly.
The way I look at it, it’s not about being liberal, it’s about trust. Raise your daughters to be strong, independent women with opinions, then trust that they know what they are doing when they make a choice.
Over and out,
The reluctant writer.
